Y-ellow Y'all.
So while we're here on this subject. You're spoze to be able to
prime very large electros by bringing them up from zero to rated voltage.
(I think rated voltage I can't remember what the deal is.) I knew someone
who use to do it claiming that he was "Reconditioning" the caps. And I've
heard people say it takes a couple of hours and others say a couple of days.
A couple of hours I could handle. A couple of days.... Bugger that!
I guess you'd need some kind of purpose built PSU that would ramp up over
time. Or a servo-controlled variac (rectified output of course) which I
could have got for nix at one time. Damnit! This wouldn't be a problem if
we weren't talking between 0 - 100 volts or so. But at the same time big
20,000uF + caps are hard to come by.
Anyone care to wax lyrical on this?
Thanks in advance.
Be absolutely Icebox.
