Thanks to all who replied, on the list or privately.
This list is the best resource for any technical question
on the internet! 8-)
I think I will try Paul's paper label method first, before I change
the appearance of this keyboard forever.
It's nice to see how helpful you all are with technical answers (even going
so far as to modify my fingers). I'm still curious if I'm the only one who
has such a problem. I mean I have heard a lot about certain keyboard
parameters in synthesizer reviews, including the shape of the front
of the keys ("waterfall" etc. ...), but I've never run into an article about
the surface, what the optimal surface would be like. (I know they used to
use ivory, and stopped using ivory for a very good reason, but there must
have been some research about the parameters of other materials, including
the surface and its interaction with fingers. I would have expected
musicians adressing the issue in interviews (if there is such an issue
at all). Just wondering.
