First question: do you have the documentation that came with it?
As I recall (it's been a few years), it explains pretty much everything.
The front panel can be whatever you like (part of the point of those old
"experimenter's kits"), but there is a suggested basic panel shown in there
somewhere.
If you don't have the docs, let me know, and I'll dig into my old files for
a copy.
