Carrier to one input and inverse carrier to the other.
Modulator to the Balance DC control.
Mix the outputs together.

You need to offset the balance voltage so that it is at "center" when no
signal is present at the modulator in put.
That way L and R cancel each other when the modulator is 0.

Time to surf to http://www.national.com/
and check out the data sheet for the LM1036 (35 also?)
A easy to setup DC (read VC) volume and balance control.
And National toss in VC treble & bass control for free <sound of wild
cheering crowd>
Don't have to go for external CV right away, just start with the standard
application.

There are plenty examples with this IC online.
Makes a good balanced (ring) modulator too, and (bad) rotary speaker
simulation, and auto pan, and wave shaper/distortion, and ...
Really this thing belongs in Amazing discoveries.

I'd be interested in info on using this IC in a balanced modulator
application.
I downloaded the ap notes, but I don't see how it could be done???
