Those in Europe should check with Conrad for the Voltcraft LS50 solder
station.
A good regulated uC regulated system for less than a Weller magnastat :)

I got both, Weller TWCP and the Voltcraft LS50.
Weller is undoubtly better in quality with nice touches like a heat
resistant (silicon) cord to the iron.
However the Voltcraft has programmable temperatures to offer and is much
cheaper.
(with the Weller you have to change the "tip" when you want to change
temperature, not fun when hot)

When working on (smd) components I still use my trusted Weller.
But when working on cables, connectors (jacks) or anything else where the
temperature or power I need varies the Voltcraft is now my favorite.

If you are looking for a good all-round solder station, you should give the
Voltcraft a serious look.
The cheapest Weller with comparable features will cost you 5 to 7 times more
than the Voltcraft.
Highly recommended!
