[sdiy] Interesting Midi Box for Parts etc...

Hi All,
I live in Los Angeles and I go to the All Electronics location in Van Nuys
that actually has these units on the shelf. I can tell you that if you've
ever been to a ham fest or a electronic swap meet, that is basically the
inside of this shop. They also have Alesis keyboard assemblies in a box in
the back of the shop as well. From what I could discern from reading the
manual that they had in plain view was that this was one of the last of the
Nano series, It's a simple Midi Sequence Recorder that uses a PCMCIA card to
store it's memories on. The standard PCMCIA Blank PCMCIA card is sold at any
Mars or GC for about $100. These units are in Brand New condition still
wrapped in their little plastic baggies in the little boxes. AllElec is a
surplus store, there is a lot of stuff in that store that I'm not sure that
they even knew where it came from. All in all, it's a neat little find for
those that want to play back MIDI sequences especially handy for those that
still sequence live and don't want to be seen on stage with a laptop.
Oh well, that's my two cents worth, AllElec is a cool bargain hunters
paradise for electronics noodlers like ourselves. The one cool thing they
do have is a whole bunch of motorized slide and rotarty pots for real cheap
and there's stuff in the store that they don't feature in the catalog.
Later.
