now that i've got my head on straight, i'm going to make a CV pedal the way you've recommended.  i just had a question of how to wire the guitar cable to a battery clip's red and black wires.

obviously i'll remove the 1/4" connector plug at the top.  then what?  one wire is a ground, just not sure which one.
