Or just buy resistance wire, cheaper than ripping it off a pot.
Another nice resistance element is video tape.
Stick the videotape on a hard surface with (thin) dual sided err... tape.
The videotape has to be on a hard surface for durability reasons.
Next make a spacer above and below the videotape with dual sides "foam"
tape.
Cover it up with metalized plastic sheet, the metalized side facing the
videotape.
Best is to test in the hobby/book shop if the sheet is indeed conductive!
Oh, don't forget the electrical contacts.
Clamping the wires to the videotape and plastic sheet material may work
better then soldering ;^P
