Anyone know of a source for odd size idler wheels?
While on vacation back in Virginia I grabbed my first echo box and brought
it back out with me. Its a Dynacord Tape echo. All tubes, nice and nasty
sounding ( oh it sounds glorious when you overdrive it ). However
it sat with the pinch roller engaged for 2+ years and now has a nice dent
in the rubber. I can probably grind it out but finding a replacement
would be really cool. And there are a couple other wheels in there
that might like spares since they are designed to float for tape alignment
so I've always been afraid of losing them.
They are all brass insert rubber various size shafts, about 3/8" wide
and 1" or so diameter.
This is about the only echo box I like more then my precious Ibanez BBD
based box.
Someone has a picture of one here if anyone is curious :

The one I have is the middle Echocord Super.
I've toyed a bit with the idea of making a tape echo but unstead of
using multiple heads at different spacing, using a single head mounted on the
drive mechanism for a fader. All Electronics has some 10k motorized faders
that I think might do for this. Maybe also use a variable speed motor
unstead of just two speed, and putting in a nuclear erase head since one
problem ( well, I consider it a feature most of the time ) is the erase head
doesnt seem to do a 100% job of nuking the tape, in fact I'd guess its more
like 40%.
The sound of my MiniMoog thru this beast doing a really low grungy bassline...
Ohhh it gives me shivers. I really forgot how much I loved this setup.
Sometimes I feel like I'm doing more Synth TLC then DIY. I still havent
gotten around to fixing the square wave on Osc #1. *sigh*
