 Nitric acid will etch coper.. but, it is *far* more destructive (of you)
than persulphate or ferric chloride, if you spill it on you.
And the gas given off (mostly nitric oxide, not to be confused with laughing gas, which is nirtous oxide) is very damaging to the lungs, on a par with chlorine.
Generally, I'm pretty relaxed about chemicals. But, no nitric etch for me!!
Even if it was free.
