Actually, what I was thinking was more of a physical
modeling of the gearbox. Unfortunately, the fundamental
trigonometric identities work only on pure sine and
cosine waves. a simple example of this is the use of a
4 quadrant multiplier to square a sine wave giving a DC
offset sinewave signal at exactly twice the frequency of
the input. There's also an identity for tripling as well
as general ones. Implementation requires too much
perfection of the physical parts we would use to make
it practical IMHO, however, I would love to be proven
wrong about that.
