Well, I happen to have the Roland version MD-8 bi-directional MIDI-DCB that
I use with my Juno-60.  And, I also have the schematics and part list.
Unfortunately, none of it looks very DIY friendly.  Roland uses a 8051 CPU,
indicating that the internal PROM is not used so a 8031 would be OK too.
They use a 2732 PROM and something called a "uPD8251 programmable
communication interface"
