I don't think I would try to squeeze that out of a PIC, not without a
hardware UART to make life easier.

It'd be a lot easier to build a 'master clock' device, with a high
internal resolution, midi sync output, DIN sync output with selectable
ppqn, various arpeggiator triggers etc. than to mess about with the
clock from another device.
Just a thought...

While I remember, my analogue sequencer (
http://www.colinfraser.com/p3/p3.htm ) DIN sync output has a 50% duty
cycle.
The internal timer runs at double the rate of the 24 ppqn clock, and
toggles the clock output each timeout.
I've synced multiple 606s, my 303, 707, 727 etc. to it and never had any
trouble.
