after the recommendations of the list (thanks to ALL
who offered their experiences) and most notably jim
patchells suggestion of colored LEDs, i think im going
to try and work out an LED lit plastic panel that is
MIDI/CV controlled to pulse different colors with the
beat. i like the idea of an LFO, or an akai MPC
sequencing a rainbow of colors from a glowing synth on
stage. wow!
okay, so thats the idea... but where do i begin? i
know MIDI is used pretty extensively to control
lighting in bigger rigs, but is there a cheap
(preferably DIY) circuit to MIDI control dozens (or
possibly hundreds) of LEDs? im not trying to
replicate Daft Punks LED helmets (not yet at least,
but i would love to work on that later) but i would
like to be able to voltage control the intensity of
the ultrabright LEDs, to mix them and create all
possible colors (or alot at least). im realy excited
about this! thanks for all the ideas and suggestions
guys!
