[sdiy] plastic panels/cond. paint/interior lighting

and painting the inside defeats the whole purpose.  im
going to light the insides of this thing to make it
glow pink when the lights are off.

which raises another question...
what kind of lighting would be safe to put in close
proximity to PCBs?  im worried about heat making
oscillators drift, or the extra power making hum and
noise.  whats the best thing to put inside?  neon
doesnt put out much heat does it?  but would it hum?
