I would contact Mackie again and talk to someone else. It's my obvervation
that the quality of their employees is rather inconsistent, but as a whole
their technical support is incredibly good. If necessary, get one of their
engineers on the phone and accuse them of not knowing the answer -- that
always works :) I am sure that other people have already done this mod,
and if Mackie doesn't have the schematics on hand, they should be able to
get them for to you. They are an extremely "mod friendly" company. I have
an original 1202, and the manual came with PCB diagrams of several mods
already in it.
