I woke up one morning to a horrible smell and a very
thin haze of rancid smoke floating around the living
room. I had no idea what it was and called the fire
department. They came over and started inspecting and
were equally puzzled. Then I noticed, my old eico
scope's switch was on, but the light was off. I
realized I had left it on all night, and in the night,
the transformer failed. Had it not been in that metal
box, it may have caught the house on fire.
