Hi Kris...

Of course you are correct. And such a proof in a court of law would be
difficult at best.  None of those "offended" on the list are suggesting
that.

The point seems to be that not crediting the originator of the design is

rude and maybe unethical..... Its not illegal in the least.

The second problem is that it impedes the free flow of information on
the
list, as people get offended when their ideas are liberated with no
credit.

For example... EFM  (TomG) has some designs which are inspired (based)
on other circuits.  They are labeled as "Based on the Moog Filter
design" etc.
The design is no longer protected by patent... and there is no legal
reason why
he needs to give ANY credit to Bob Moog. The credit is given because we
(synth-diyers)  owe a debt of gratitude to this man who gave us a
legendary design, where before there was none.

But anyway...  Thanks to whoever made the "Dieter Doepfer" post... its
the
funniest thing I've seen here in ages !!!  ;^P
