Not a FuzzFace, nope, but I have run my DX7 through both a Boss DS-1 and a
Crybaby. Very nice. The DS-1 is tricky; some things just sound gawdawful
through it, but other patches have that FM crystal clean sheen taken off
them for a really great effect. It tends to take a lot of edge off of the
attack.
The Crybaby is sweet. It definitely makes the DX-7 sound more analogue. Man,
does a DX-7 ever need a filter section :(
I'd love to try this with a Frostwave Resonator.
A BIG caveat here: all of the above was done mostly into a very
dirty-sounding tube-based guitar amp. In my experience, the DS-1 sounds
horrible driving my other, solid-state amp.
I strongly suspect that both pedals would sound way better on more analogue
gear.
I can't wait to build my VCF8e and run my DX-7 through it....mwahahahaha! If
Tom only knew...
