The Scheaffer program does allow colours to be used. You need to print
it as normal and not in wiremode. Both text and panel background can
have different colours. But the colours are a bit garish and may need to
be stepped down somewhat. I'm not quite sure how you would do that since
it outputs the file to a printer. I have sent the files to a PDF writer
and you can have some luck in editing on those, but I have never tried
to change any colours that way.

The Scheaffer program actually makes for good templates. The 1:1
wiremode print out complete with crosshairs for each drill centre can be
stuck onto your panel with Pritt stick. Then pulled off when all your
holes have been drilled. It works very well, and saves doing any
measuring on your actual panel.
