Hi Casey.. I have used the free software "FrontPanel Designer" from the
company Schaeffer Apparatebau in Berlin:-

http://www.schaeffer-apparatebau.de/

its a basic windows programme (no need to spend weeks on a steep learning
curve here) that is
nice and effecient. Its used by quite a few people in the synth-diy
area..particularly those getting their panels made
by Schaeffer (you just upload your design to their website and they make the
panel for you). I
make my own panels ..but still found this programme very useful. You can
look at my synth-diy website below to see some of the panels made using this
programme. Dials etc are easy ..and you can save them as macro elements that
can be inserted at will into your design. There are limitations in that as
far as i can figure out ..you cant produce colours on your output
(essentially the programme was meant as a drilling/engraving guide) but I
didnt find that a big problem.
Hope this helps,
cheers
steve
