I looked in to this once, around here the cost where about $10 for 10x50 cm.
However this was a deal, cause they had other work form me too.
Normally they charged $100 minimum for up to 100x50 cm.
The printer was a HP with 600dpi, the printouts look like a inkjet print
cause that is what it is.

Using a inkjet on paper and finishing with thick laminate foil gives the
same
costs as the vinyl print and IMO looks better.
(think Andromeda or DX7 as a example)

In the end I settled for silkprint, cause silkprints don't peel on the edges
;)
Was about $50 for one panel 3 color print, $55 for 2 to 100 identical
panels.
BTW 3 colors is background + 2 colors.

My 2 cnts,
Theo

hey all,

An idea was put to me today to do one off front panels which might interest
some of you guys.

Use a vinyl printer to print an artwork onto vinyl. These printers are very
common in the sign writing industry, and are capible of high quality
resaults. I couldn't see a sign writer charging too much to print a couple
of small stickers, and the resaults would be very hard wearing, as the ink
is thermally fused to the plastic vinyl sticker. What more the vinyl is
available in different colours, including clear......

interestingly enough, these sort of printers as well as computer controlled
engravers, and high end printers are the other trade of synth company
roland.
