The library at my university is replacing all their terminals with Sun Ray
100
machines (very nice btw, even the mouse pads are sexy!). There are now
a huge quantity of low end pentium machines, only 3 years old. All the
machines have been recycled for use elsewhere in the Uni, however there
are a pile of about 40 decent 15" monitors sitting under the stairs in one
of
the fire exits (isn't that illegal?). I asked about obtaining a couple, and
was
told by a snooty librarian that "all computer hardware remains property of
the library and will be disposed of in the near future, nothing is available
for
students". Speaking to someone else, and I was told they were going to
throw them out. So every day I check the bottom of the fire exit. The day
they are gone, I'll run straight to the skip at the back of the library :)
