You will cry next year when you go looking for that stuff "we had out
back..."
We did the audit thing... among the trash were
The "Buy Cards"... purchasing documentation. The ONLY historuc record
linking
parts specified since 1948 with current buys. Now the only record is the
Original
part number (Has anyone got a Sarkes-Tarzian Rectifier Catalog anymore ???).
So I have to guess what parts were, and what the original engineer was
thinking !
Also lost... the BOM with the "component item numbers"... the reference that
says
that among the 10 - (jelly bean) 10K resistors on the board... that One of
them was
called R1, and one was R15....
Bean counters count all beans alike. They don't seem to realize that WHERE
the
beans are put is significant also...
All the 2W carbon comp resistors... now we need special cermet units. They
didn't
think that Carbon Comps were good for anything... like maybe their
exceedingly
good joule energy rating.
The list goes on. I squirreled all the parts I could lay hands on. The
MAN-72 and
74 readouts that are STILL good parts at rat shack. etc... The A-B pots....
you know, the right stuff...
Park your truck next to the dumpster. Fill 'er up !!!
