Yes, but not in the sense of "higher in pitch". "Scharf" is the word for
sharp (as a knife), or hot (as a meal with a lot of pepper in it).
Perhaps another tone control.
I think there's a pipe organ register called "Scharff" (double f) too,
but I don't know what this stands for.
