I tried to talk a company I once worked for into making a "high end" tube
based A/D and D/A converter. I figured there was a market for D/A with all
the audiophiles that hated the sound of CDs and found it hard to get things
on vinyl. The tube D/A after the digital outs of a CD player would add the
"warmth" that was missed. I figured the tube A/D would find its way into the
studio and be used by lots of guitar players. The market was deemed to small
and the project never happened. Still think some people would pay for them
though.
