before anything else, see if a replacement is available from the
manufacturer.


1- it will work
2- it will not affect the life of the EL
3- you can get the material from digi-key (in different colors), but
conencting any leads to it is not going to be easy.
4- as long as the surface area of the replacement is about the same
surface area as the original, the original p/s should handle it fine.
