Another solution is called Uni-Strut.  I looked into this for MOTM.
However, the MOTM mounting allotment is 1/2" max.  The most narrow Uni-Strut
I could find was 5/8".  (Close, but no cigar).  Uni-Strut is commonly
available at electrical supply houses.  It resembles a narrow "U" shaped
channel that holds "spring nuts."  You cut the strut to the length you want,
and slide the spring nuts anywhere along the channel.  The nice thing is the
spacing is 100% flexible (side to side).

they had three screw holes, but I had to drill a few to do it right.
Maybe I'll just get that stuff from home depot and just drill the holes as I
need them...
