About 1980 when I was at Tandy, we hired this 'genius' in switchers name
Clayton Sturgeon. Smoked 6 packs/day.
Weighed about 110lbs at 6'2".

We was working on a 1200W car inverter prototype. He was hunched over the
board poking around with a DVM
and a 3300 at 650V cap blew. It him him square in the forehead. The impact
flipped him backwards out of the lab stool.
The tech on the bench next to him jumped up in his chair so hard it *broke*
a kneecap as it hit the underside
of the benchtop. The VP ran onver and picked Clayton up. Dazed, the said,
"That cap was in backwards", then passed out. He had to take him in for a
head CT (which back then was about $9,000). He came back to work about 4
weeks
later.

Epilogue:

About 3 months later, the wounded tech was hunched over another Clayon
proto, a Class D PA amp. An enginner
snuck up behind with a paper bag and popped it 1 inch behind his head. The
tech was on a chair with casters. He
'jumped' at a 45 degree angle, which made the chair shoot across the floor
about 12 feet, crashing into a rack full
of computer monitors. Which all fell to the floor. The tech quit the next
day.
