I had to power one CMOS chip through its input protection diodes once, after
someone reversed power to the chip and blew it. By sacrificing one on the
functions, I was able to get the thing running again. Certainly NOT ideal,
but in this case, the thing (a display in a 1/25 scale plastic model) wasn't
worth the effort of repairing propperly.
