[sdiy] Top Octave Generator Experiments

I was experimenting today with fitting a TOG into a Gate array. I
have a whole bunch of XC4003A's that I need to put to use, and thought a
TOG would be something good to put in there. I wanted to use 18MHz as
the base frequency, as this can be divided down fairly easily to get C8
or C9....with an even number. This makes the dividers 12 bits (well,
really 11, but making an 11 bit divider would take some effort). So
far, the TOG is just a smidge too big to fit into a 4003A.
And on another note...I have also been looking for a 12 bit DAC to
do Midi->CV chores. So far, the only one I have been able to locate
that will work nicely with my hardware is the MX7548 (maxim), and second
sourced by Analog Devices as the AD7548. What makes me nervous about
this part is that it is a fairly old part. Although, both companies
still offer it (if you can consider AD as really offering anything).
Now here is a question, has anybody used the Maxim online store to
purchase parts (Digikey Does not seem to offer this one)?
