But AFAIK most mask-programmed 8048 (and 8051) still behave like the EPROM
version so you can read them out.
Pretty handy in case it's only a few commands (like the UART intialization
on 8051) which have to be changed (I will try this on my Casio FZ-1 some
time - after I found a method to desolder the keyboard controller/8049 w/o
ruining the main board: I once had to replace a 74154 on it and that was
just a pain.)
