Hmmmmmmm.... I've used hundreds (possibly over a thousand) of these
and I NEVER had a problem. Output always within 0.5 volts of what it
should be. From quite a mix of vendors too.
People could do worse than read the National Semiconductor data sheets 
and applicatoion notes. And pay attention to layout.
