I have a Roland A-80 master keyboard. I think all Roland expression
pedal jacks are wired this way.
Yamaha is different: Tip is voltage source and Ring is cv input here.

The voltage source of the A-80 is short-circuit proof (but still able to
power a LED in an optical pedal). These jacks are intended to be used
for foot switches (with mono plug) instead of pedals too. In this case
the voltage source is also shorted.
