[sdiy] CV and current Boss guitar multifx boxes?

Lurker offers some inexact info (standard disclaimer applies):

Any Roland/Boss expression pedal input I've messed with is TRS. Since I
(ignorantly) used the Control Voltage feature on a DOD FX-17 Wah-Vol as an
exp. pedal with some continued success, I must have grounded out the
Roland/Boss own voltage source. So I guess that the Tip is the return
voltage, the Ring the outgoing source voltage and the Sleeve is ground.

Since then, I've used a passive volume pedal with the mono ends of an insert
cable connected to the pedal and the stereo TRS end connected to the
Roland/Boss whatzit's exp. pedal input. Pot value, dunno, off hand. And
whether this set up is optimal is another thing.

But unless totally & continuously grounding out the Roland/Boss voltage
source is a bad thing (which wouldn't make sense, but as I am a mere
wayfaring lurker . . .), this means you can feed your own CV into the exp.
pedal if you wanted. FWIW, the DOD Wah/Vol pedal's CV range is 0 to +5 volts.

Submerging now,
Kevin

<<Does anyone know exactly what a Boss multifx box expects to see on its
control input? I think it is a variable resistance, but can anyone
confirm this, and if so, what resistance range does it expect?
I have been asked to control one via CV, so I'm thinking of a current
convertor
and a led/ldr setup. I can't get inside the fx box (and, don't wnat to!)
