The Pokey chips have equivalent numbers of AY-3-8910 and AY-3-8912
here in the UK. These chips create sound using data from a bus, so I
would say unless you are using a CPU I doubt they'd be any use.

Older games are usually good for getting bits off - Most will have a
SN76477 on them, and perhaps that CA chip that is used often as a VCA
(forget the number).
