The CA3086 is basically the same part, but is not tested for any
matching specs. In all likelyhood, the CA3086 will be just as well
matched as the CA3046, it's just that you will never really know (unless
you test it). If you look at the CA3046 data sheet, you will see the
matching specs, but not on the CA3086.
The thing I have found rather interesting, is that I have seen
places that sell the CA3086 for more than the CA3046.
