[sdiy] CA3086 and CA3046?

I'd like to know what the difference is between these
two transistor arrays (the CA3086 and the CA3046)?
Why is CA3046 often used in synthesizers and the
CA3086 not? I've looked at the data sheets and found
no big difference:
