Inline messages are preferred because it is indeed faster to look at.
If I leave it at 1 MB, one could just split the post in multiple separate ones. In any case, it is a non-issue. This list’s total size is currently at 2.7 MB and there are perhaps 90 members. There are probably more messages about the list than actual on-topic messages.
If the archive becomes too big for an individual, they can always use the online archive at http://synth-diy.org/pipermail/marketplace/ <http://synth-diy.org/pipermail/marketplace/>
