The HAWK-800 librarian is based on the JSynthLib Java based librarian. http://www.jsynthlib.org/ Installing JSynthLib Step 1: Java Runtime Environment Make sure you have the J2SE JRE (Java Run Time Environment) or SDK (Software Development Kit) which supports Java 1.4 or later. If you do not have it, you can download it from http://java.sun.com/. Mac OS X comes with java preinstalled. but you should be sure you have the latest update installed. Step 2: Installing and Invoking JSynthLib * Download the JSynthLib.jar file from KorgPolyEx Yahoo group and copy it to any directory (for example c:\Program Files\JSynthLib\ or ~/Applications/jsynthlib/). Do the same for the MAC (you cannot use the version of JSynthLib that comes bundled with the Mac because it won't have support for the HAWK-800. * Invoke JSynthLib. o [MS Windows] Run JSynthLib.jar by typing: java -jar JSynthLib-XXX.jar Do this at from within a command prompt. You may also want to create a shortcut on the desktop to JSynthLib.jar. o [GNU/Linux] Run JSynthLib.jar by typing java -jar JSynthLib.jar from the shell prompt. o [Mac OS X] Run JSynthLib.jar by typing java -Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true -jar JSynthLib.jar from the Terminal. You can also double click the jar file, but then each window will have it's own menu bar. Application bundle would remove this step. * Go to Window->Preferences and set preferences (such as look and feel, default file directories, default MIDI port, etc.) as you wish. * Go to Window->Synths and add and configure the synthesizers you want to use with JSynthLib. You will find HAWK-800 under the Korg synth's. Also, your Poly-800 must be fitted with the HAWK-800 upgrade kit and must have firmware version 2.4 or higher.
