If you are having problems with QuadToneRIP and or QTRgui, there are several things you should do to identify the source of the problem.

Some common things to try to get things working:

If you are getting warnings about your image try re-saving it. There should be no "alpha" channels. Check to be sure that it is in Gray Scale or RGB mode. If the image is in RGB mode, make sure it is contiguous (RGBRGBRGB), not interleaved (RRRGGGBBB) If you select compression be sure you choose LZW compression. If you still get the warnings try saving the image with a different software. Photoshop or QImage should give you valid TIFF files.

ImageToRaster, QuadToPrinter, and RawPrint all produce log output that QTRGui consolidates with its information into QTRLog.txt  in the Documents and Settings Application Data folder for QuatToneRIP. If there  is an error message in one of these log files it will be displayed by QTRgui in a Log File Error Display window.

If there are messages that you do not understand, post a message in the QuadToneRIP forum. Someone there may have already solved your problem. Please provide the information from log file when requesting help.

ImageToRaster is responsible for converting your picture into the pixels that will be printed. QuadToPrinter is the printer driver that translates the pixels into the printer controls that will print the graphic. RawPrint interfaces the raw data from QuadToPrinter with the Windows printing system, causing the printing to occur on your printer.

If you set the DEBUG option from the Tools/Options Menu.  QTRgui cause the application windows for ImageToRaster, QuadToPrinter, and RawPrint to be visible while these applications are running. This will let you observe the programs starting and stopping.

If you get "Error writing to printer" from RawPrint, check the printers status lights. QTR bypasses the Epson Status Monitor, so the error lights are the only indicators you will get of printer errors.
