QTRgui Overview

QTRgui is a front end for Roy Harrington’s QuadToneRIP for Windows printing solution. You can use QTRgui to setup your printing jobs. All of the QuadToneRIP options are set from graphical controls in QTRgui. When you print, QTRgui executes the QuadToneRIP application programs passing them the parameters you have selected.

You may select and print the file from the file menu. You can drag the file from explorer and drop it into QTRgui. Or, you can set QTRgui to monitor a folder and print any images that appear in it.

QuadToneRIP requires TIFF files for its processing. QTRgui will allow only files with the suffix TIF to be selected.

QTRgui provides popup hints and information on many of the controls. Hold your mouse cursor over an item and a hint will popup describing the control. For instance, hold the mouse cursor over the image thumbnail and you will see the image size. The thumbnail image and the Curve names also have popup menus associated with them. Right clicking on the curve name will give you a menu to show a graph of the ink curves. Right clicking on the image thumbnail will give you a scaling menu.

QTRgui is implemented using a "skinnable" interface. This means that you can change the "look" of the application to suit your taste. The default "look" is patterned after the standard Windows Theme.

This interface supports minimizing the QTRgui window to the System Tray as well as to the Task Bar. The function of the System Icons are: #1 minimizes the application to the System Tray. #2 "rolls up" the application to just the title bar. #3 is the standard minimize to the task bar icon. #4 is the standard exit program icon.

There are several "hidable" panels indicated by icons. Click on the icon to expose the panel. When the panel is opened, clicking again will close it. See also the Dynamic Rolldown option.
