HI guys I Downloaded the CS80 manual from the Yamaha site and noticed it was way different then the one I got with my synth. I posted some bad pics of it as well as the brochure - both are dated 1977. the pics should be fine to look at until I get a chance to scan the docs.

Yeah, It's different than my manual. Yours has the third wah/expression button that isn't on my CS-80. Buon Natale! Kala Christouyenna, ¡Feliz Navidad! Hauskaa Joulua, Joyeux Noël, Fröhliche Weihnachten, Glædelig Jul, God Jul! Merry/Happy Christmas!

> Yeah, It's different than my manual. Yours has the third wah/expression button that isn't on my CS-80. I was going to ask about that..I've seen CS80s with the 3 buttons.. mine just has the 2 like yours tho it shows 3 in the manual.. i guess the 3 was the original production run or something?

To my knowledge, the three-button model was a prototype only. I´ve seen a prototype that has a split block of preset selectors as well as a keyboard that ends with a C sharp. Another one I´ve seen has all preset selectors in one colour (in a contemporary ad, featuring also the GX-1 and the GS-1/2). I guess these models were rushed out in a hurry in order to have something to show at various music fairs, probably they weren´t even playable at all. (Thom Yorke/Radiohead -- "Paranoid Android") Finally available: Stephen Parsick -- Traces of the Past Redux, reissued with three previously unreleased bonus tracks. It´s out: [´ramp] & markus reuter -- "ceasing to exist", a gorgeous dark ambient album. available through our webshop at www.doombient.com For info and audio, please visit the official [´ramp] website at www.doombient.com

Could you post a close-up/higher-res of picturer CS-9 so we can read the description of the 3 buttons. David

The CS80 at Audities in Calgary has the 3 buttons.. to my knowledge its not a proto: http://www.audities.org/audities/collection/yamaha_cs80_1.html the 3 buttons are: EXP EXP/WHA WHA the 3 button versions must be the very early ones or something. -rick > To my knowledge, the three-button model was a prototype only.
