Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

Layering is always the way to go for big beats, I layer all my drum hits 
in the XX-7.   Usually 2-3 kicks, 2 snares, 2 HH's each (CHH & OHH).

Till now I didn´t really find a bass drum that did convince me, perhaps I 
should layer it with a sine drum to get more realistic kind of sound with 
mid and deep frequency,but I still didn´t hear thousands of sounds on my 
EMU 5000. But they convince me more, much more. I´m searching of a big 
beat.
