Crumar Multiman S repair report

Crumar Multiman S repair report

2009-05-05 by Mu

Got a Multiman S laying on the bench for a couple hours. Here's what was wrong, and how it was corrected:

- Lost voices on all C's and E's
Dead octave dividers (TDA1008/6-Stage Divider). Replaced these and the relevant coupling caps.

- Stuck notes
Mechanical error. Shaft holding trigger springs mounted too low on some keys. (Probably rearlier "service" - ugly glue job)

- Non triggering brass on some keys
Replaced leaking electrolytes (10uF + 4u7) on trigger card below each key.

- Non triggering piano on some keys. Other voices triggering as normal.
Mechanical error. Upper trigger spring not making contact so as to recharge the electrolyte for note onset. Adjusted so as to make good contact on key release.

I write this because I'd like to find more information like this in here myself - Aiming towards a reference on how to get our machines working again, rather than a synth obituary.

Cheers,

Mu.

Hi Mu,
Thanks a lot for this.
And yes, I agree: I like to read stuff like this.
