There was one bid on it. I was surprised to see 0 bids on the 
completed items page too. Maybe that's what happens when an item is 
withdrawn. Personally, I can't see why the seller would even 
consider disposing of such a fine piece of musical furniture.

Frank Samagaio went to see it and took some great photos. The machine is  fer 
shit. It may be rare, but it's a rare piece of crap from what I can tell.  
The cabinet is delaminated in the back. There are major cracks in the wood  
itself. The machine is filled with rust, keys stick, doesn't cycle properly,  etc. 
It doesn't look like was ever serviced to me. In fact, it doesn't look like  
anyone has opened it for 40 years.
 
Frank can tell you way more. I got all this from him, including about a  
dozen and a half close up photos. Better to spend the money on an M5000 and save  
a bit as well. This machine should go to a rich guy with a good set of tools 
and  a lot of patience. It's a long way from playable. The photos and 
description  were very deceiving. Kudos to Frank for checking it out.

Yes, Frank! I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. When they last  
visited Tronto, I used the term "probably" three times in their  
presence, and those buggers walked off with every darn scrap of  
umbrage that I possessed! They even took a fair share of Clay's, too,  
but he's very much more easy-going than most, so he probably hasn't

First off, thanks for buying the book. I hope you enjoy it.

Here's the drill for the signing on the title page. Timothy Findlay,  
the great Canadian writer once took me to task (gently) because I  
signed the title page of a book and didn't cross out my printed name.  
This is what traditionally should be done and supposedly indicates  
that it was the author who indeed signed the book (although I don't  
see why a forger couldn't do the same thing). I thought it was kind of  
a neat idea, so that's what I now do.

As for my name being spelled wrong, that's just bad penmanship on my  
part. My handwriting has always sucked.


So what you've wound up with is a book I signed somewhere along the  
way. Hold it up to your computer screen and I'll see if I can identify  
where it was.

Shooting Straight in the Dark arrived today, but sadly, not autographed. But at least it didn't cost me $113.96 for a used copy like this seller is advertising:

As for ending up with an authentic autographed copy, you actually have  
something even more valuable: a copy where the author didn't even  
spell his own name correctly. What sort of drugs was he on?
