Basic Interval Switcher - Multiples Question

Basic Interval Switcher - Multiples Question

2003-05-21 by elle_webb

I have a fairly basic question. What is a reasonable limit
for "multing" a signal in a modular? Will you run into problems when
splitting a CV to more than "x" number of modules?

The reason I'm wondering is that I'm considering adding another one
of Larry's Interval Switchers. (If you don't have one yet, you're
missing out!) I've found using Larry's switcher a lot easier than
rough tuning VCO's.

Larry's design normalizes the "B" input to the "A" input. Would there
be any problem with normalizing a second Interval Switcher's "A"
input to the "A" input of the first? This would allow up to 4
separate tunable CV's from the one input.

Has anyone tried this?

Stooge panel list updated

2003-06-12 by Larry Hendry

The available Stooge panels list has been updated with everything
that Moe and I currently have on the "proposed-to-make" list. You
can find the updated list in PDF or GIF format here:

http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/panel.htm

You will notice I have established a new deadline for orders as
Sunday June 15. I want to ship the panels to the printer on the 16th
to avoid the delays we had last time due to hitting the printer at a
bad time. He has the last 3 weeks of June in his schedule for us. I
am already one week late (completely my fault).

I have our order spreadsheet updated to include all the new panels
available. My goal tonight will be to enter all orders in the
spreadsheet so I can produce a total of the panels that have been
ordered. I either post that information to the list or send out
private e-mail to the list of people who have ordered panels. Then,
you will have a better idea of the current price point for each
panel.

Some panel considerations:

Small add on PCBs are planned for the MOTM-120 and MOTM-320 for the
additional outputs and other features. Scott Juskiw is working on
those and will judge how many PCBs to make based on panel orders.

I am not certain if we will have an add on PCB this time around for
the CV control of the Miniwave expansion. I will certainly have
plans for building that circuit on a small protoboard. I have one up
and running now. I think Hylander is out of the expander PCBs. But,
I expect he plans to make more.

Now, please understand that the existence of a panel on the list does
not guarantee there is a circuit to go behind it. Some of these
panel may have been created to satisfy an individual's need for some
DIY or modules he has had for a while he wants to add to his MOTM
system. I those cases I have placed the name of the panel requester
in the information field so you may contact them for additional
details.

Some of you have asked for panels that we simply could not get on our
list to do this time. Maybe we can add them on the next round. Or,
you may have to seek the Schaeffer alternative. I apologize for
that. We turned away about 25 new designs if that makes you feel
better about the one we did not get to for you. The demand for new
designs was at least 5 times what we had anticipated. We did manage
to at least triple our planned additions.

As always, thanks to everyone who has participated in the Stooge
panel
process.
Larry Hendry (speaking for me and Moe)

jlarryh@... is the best contact address for me

But, for some reason, Yahoo has decided I can no longer post with
that address due to some e-mails bouncing to my mail account. You
know I have absolutely no possibility of getting in touch with somone
at Yahoo to fix that. Sigh....

Very cool - there are a lot of interesting panel additions! Time to
update the order.

About the 25 other panel designs (!) ...

Once the current order is done, could you add the requested panel
designs to your panel list, even as text listings? That would avoid
duplicated effort, and would get us psyched for the next order.

Also, for the Fall/Winter order, would it make sense to set the
cut-off for new designs a couple weeks before ordering begins? It
seems like that would save you some stress, while also simplifying
ordering.

Thanks for the hard work accommodating the new designs. This expands
the palette of MOTM options, and that helps make this whole thing fun.

OK, maybe we can do that.

Yes. I had planned this to be less hectic. But, the
graduation/wedding/move to buffalo and 8 completely unscheduled
additions to my day gig really caused my May to be a complete and
total zoo. So, we are making the best of what we have left.

Larry (found out my normal e-mail server is now applying spamcop to
all yahoo groups). Sigh....

Even if you didn't have all that stuff going on, organizing a complex
order of this magnitude could be a full time job.

I'm impressed by the number of new panels you guys were able to crank
through. I bet a lot of people are tantalized by the 25+ designs that
we're going to have next time, too.

Keep up the great work!

The number of shipped MOTM modules + Stooge panels (after this batch) is very nearly Moog's
entire 12 year output. Not shabby!

It's a shame that I couldn't convince Cynthia and Roger Arrick to use MOTM format: then we would
outnumber Moog & Doepfer :)

I even tried to talk Rex at Serge to use it. You can guess how well that THAT went over :)

Paul S.
Buchla gone, but 2 new toys soon.......
