latest CVS version broken?

latest CVS version broken?

2010-04-14 by manu@netbsd.org

Hello everybody

I had not used 4.3.x versions yet in production. I made an attempt this
morning, and it seems badly broken. milter-greylist performs spurious
config file reloads that end in segmentation faults. Commenting out
config reload in the code does not seems to help a lot, as sendmail
reports timeouts talking with milter-greylist.

I reverted to 4.2.x and backported the ratelimit feature, since it is
what I was looking for. This experience leaves me a bit uncomfortable,
as obviously I have not been tracking latest developements seriously
enough. There have been a lot of thread unsafery fixes recently, and I
suspect one of them introduced new problems. Is anyone actually using
the latest version from CVS? Do you have succes with it? What build
options do you use?

Hmm.. all this is interesting. I use:

milter-greylist-4.3.5-1.i386

on all my production servers, I've been using the 4.3.x series since it was
released in production and can't say I've experienced any problems with it.

I stay away from CVS versions though.

Regards,

Michael.

I fixed the bug (in latest CVS). It occured only when using the "legacy
config file", that is /etc/mail/greylist.conf, regardless of PREFIX.
