I don't think got any response here, so here's my answer to help trigger the subject again... After fixing the loose wire in the pad the signal is weaker. "Hi Nick, no answer on the list? My first choice would be to re-solder it. Sometimes the connection is bad due to bad solder. If that doesn't help I'd replace the piezo trigger. It's no expensive part.
