Evil Twin Vs Doepfer Xtreme Filter

Evil Twin Vs Doepfer Xtreme Filter

Hi all

How does the Evil Twin compare to say the Doepfer Xtreme? I have the
Xtreme and its very aggressive harsh etc.

Completely different animals. The Model 11 can get mean, no question
about it. But it can also be 'normal' and when it is, it's a bandpass
filter only, with all the signature timbres that earmark that
configuration.

I was aware of the fact when I touted the 11 as the answer to the
M12's reputation of not being harsh enough that a misconception may
surface that the M11 s only the anti-12, meaning it was only capable
of rasp and grunge. Not true! It's full range, meaning it will act as
merely a treble knob, a normal bandpass all the way through to the
final screams of an army of taradactiles as they're being slaughtered.

That being said, the 11 is also a vactrol-based filter, so it's timbre
is going to be different than a transconductance amp filter like the
Xtreme. Personally, I am addicted to vactrol filters, so the chances
of us doing one, unless a re-release of another filter (which will not
rule out), is otherwise pretty slim.

hope this helps.
